Charity Drives
Throughout the year, each of our branches have various free-will donations to help local charities and organizations in need. Here are the drives that are currently available at the branches near you:
Onaway:
- Cellphones for Soldiers: The proceeds from your used cellphones being recycled go towards the purchase of calling cards that are sent to soldiers. (Year-Round)
- Food Drive: Collection cart for non-perishable items that are donated to the local Onaway Food Pantry (Year-Round) ($944 in cash raised 2013)
- Mints: 50¢ purchase of various mints goes directly to The Lions Club (Year-Round)
- Candy Bars: $1 purchase goes towards MCULLAF, Federal Political Action Committee that supports the future interests of the credit union movement (Year-Round)
Rogers City:
- Gift Collection: Vietnam Veterans are collecting gifts for children (Christmas)
- Candy Bars: $1 purchase goes towards MCULLAF, Federal Political Action Committee that supports the future interests of the credit union movement (Year-Round)
Indian River:
- Cradle of Hope: Local collection of baby supplies for Single, First-Time Mothers (Year-Round)

Wolverine:

- Essentials for Troops: American Legion has a grocery basket set up in our Wolverine Lobby to collect essential items for our troops such as toiletries, cellphones, soaps, hard candies, socks, etc. (Year-Round)

We are proud to say that our staff at Awakon Federal Credit Union supports our community involvement through their volunteerism. Our team has worked together to log 2,328 volunteer hours this past year by participating and volunteering in the following events and organizations:
